The Family Bushwalkers Inc. is the largest walking club in the Canberra region. The club was first established as a sub set of the YMCA but later became an independent club in its own right.
It is often known colloquially by its three letter initials F B I but these are avoided on this site as they invite lots of spam for guns, ammunition, and kevlar jackets, and the club is much friendlier than that.
The club walking program consists mainly of day walks on Saturday and Sunday, but there are also a number of pack walks.
There are also mid-week day and half day walks :-
The club also operates short, very easy walks suitable for families with young children, i.e., under 10 years old. The pace is slow, with a long stop for morning tea, and attractions for children are often included. Walks may be in Canberra bushland, typically two hours duration, or outside Canberra, typically a half day duration, often including a picnic lunch. This program also includes walks for very young families; on some of these, use of strollers will be possible.
Popular features of the club program are longer trips away which usually involve base camping or staying in cabins or similar accomodation and doing a series of day walks with light packs. In recent years they have included:-

The club hosts several social events each year including the "Champagne evening walk on Mount Ainslie" at the end of January/beginning of February, a pot luck dinner in each half of the year, and a Christmas party in December. In addition, club members often arrange progressive dinners involving walking between the venues.
The Family Bushwalkers Inc. is a member of the Confederation of Bushwalking Clubs NSW Incorporated
