Leader: John C Two colonial cottages at Camp Cove have been booked for 4 nights. These cottages are owned by NSW National Parks. The cost is $350 per night total. Maximum of 14 people so it would cost us $25 per night each. Fully self-contained and linen is supplied. I need to know quickly who wants to come because a deposit will be needed. These cottages are very popular and these are the first dates available.

Sat 18 Jul TALLAGANDA UNNAMED CREEK 10km Easy (7)
Leader: John C We follow the Mulloon Fire Trail for 300m from the Great Dividing Range to Bald Hill Fire Trail and follow this for 500m to a dirt road on the left. We follow this road to the end and continue east alongside a dry creek. This meets our unnamed creek, where we turn upstream and follow it to the source, and then a further 300m south to Jinglemoney Fire Trail. We will walk down to Mulloon Creek for lunch. We return by Jinglemoney, Bald Hill and Mulloon Fire Trails. Climb: 150m. Cars: 80km ($10). Map: Bombay. Meet at Q.

Leader: Doug F From the top Tidbinbilla car park we follow what used to be the Lyrebird Track to its highest point then follow a ridge up to Snowy Corner then on to the Tidbinbilla Mountain summit. May be a bit of difficult regrowth. Return via a similar route. Climb: 715m. Cars: 60km ($7). Map: Tidbinbilla. Meet at K.

Sat 25 Jul FADDEN PINES TO ISAACS RIDGE 13km Easy (7)
Leader: Trevor B From the car park at Fadden Pines we walk north over Wanniassa Hills NR past a water tank to cross Long Gully Road into Isaacs Ridge NR. After two more kilometres we climb to the trig on the ridge for great views east and west and follow the ridge south to recross Long Gully Road. We return to the cars by a different route and another water tank. Climb: 420m. Maps: Tuggeranong, Canberra and/or Canberra Street Directory. Meet at Fadden Pines car park (off Bugden Avenue between Castleton Cr and Coyne St).

Leader: Bob C Walk on the Yerrabi Track to Boboyan Trig from where we can enjoy views of the Bimberi Wilderness. Then cross-country involving a steep, rough descent of 250m to the Old Boboyan Road. The descent may have been made more difficult as a result of regrowth after the bushfires. We'll visit the ruins of Boboyan Homestead before returning to the cars. Climb: 240m. Car shuffle. Sat 1 Aug MOUNT ORRORAL 10km Medium (11)
Leader: Colin B From the Orroral Tracking Station car park we follow the Granite Tops Walking Track to the lunar laser ranging station site. Turning SW, we head to the top of Mount Orroral, then follow the ridge NW for about a kilometre before descending back to the walking track and thence back to the car park. Expect thick scrub off track. Climb: 700m. Cars: 90km ($11).Map: Rendezvous Creek. Meet at K.
Sun 2 Aug MOUNT McDONALD AND THE COTTER DAM 12km Easy (6)
Leader David W We walk along some of the tracks that will be inundated by the enlargement of the Cotter Dam. We start at the Mount McDonald car park on the Brindabella Road and walk up Mount McDonald and along the tracks due to be inundated when the Dam wall is raised. We will have lunch underwater somewhere and go back on the Stony Creek Skyline Track. Cars: 20km ($2). Map: Cotter Dam. Meet at: W.

Leader: Jillian B From the Glendale Crossing we follow the fire trail to the hut at picturesque Brandy Flat, where we will have lunch. Return by the same route. A good walk for families and beginners. If time permits, afternoon tea and coffee at Lanyon. Climb: 150m. Cars: 85km ($10). Map: Michelago. Meet at K.
Sun 9 Aug ROCKY OUTCROP BETWEEN NURSERY CREEK AND RENDEZVOUS CREEK 10km Medium (9)
Leader: Mary H Come and enjoy a walk, and help celebrate Ray's 80th birthday. We walk from Nursery Swamp car park to the saddle, then up the Nursery Creek valley to the saddle between Nursery and Rendezvous Creeks on tracks. We climb to Allan's Outcrop (as Ray and I call it, because Allan M introduced us to it). The outcrop is a great jumble of granite boulders at 750 510. A bit of scrub, but nothing too serious, and some rock scrambling near the top. Afternoon tea (birthday cake) at Orroral River Picnic Area. Climb: 420m. Tue 11-Wed 19 Aug LARAPINTA TRAIL
Leader: Ken J It is proposed to walk sections of the Larapinta Trail in the western MacDonnell Ranges in mid-late winter. We will be in the area for a week and do 6 one-day out-and-back walks from camping sites. The walks and camping arrangements have been finalised. We will meet in Alice Springs on Mon 10 Aug. On Tue we will go to our first camp site at Ellery Creek and stay 5 nights. Our final 4 nights will be at Glen Helen where some will camp and others may stay in cabins. Participants have to make their own way to and from Alice Springs. There may be vacancies so if you are interested contact Ken J. Sat 15 Aug WOOLPACK FIRE TRAIL TO MOUNT WOOLPACK 13km Medium (10) Leader: Peter W This should be a good winter walk, mainly along fire trails, and not too high. We position cars at 069432 and 125425 and walk through the Tinderry Nature Reserve, through a variety of forests along the Round Flat, East Tinderry, and Woolpack Fire Trails to Mount Woolpack. Then there is about 3km across fairly open country to the cars. Some views. Climb: 680m distributed throughout the day. Cars: 120km ($14). Map: Tinderry. Meet at K.

Leader: Trevor B This is a circular walk from the Yankee Hat Walking Track car park. We will visit the Aboriginal rock art, Frank and Jacks hut (for lunch), Hospital Creek Hut and Foresters Hut. Most of the walk is on tracks but there will be some parts off-track through fairly open bush and not difficult under-foot. Climb: 290m. Cars: 100km ($12). Map: Yaouk. Meet at K.

Leader: Doug F From the Googong Dam picnic area we follow the boundary of the Cumbean Nature reserve across a saddle to follow Valley Creek to the outskirts of Queanbeyan. En route we will visit some early Queanbeyan lime kilns and quarry. Total climb 150 m. The creek banks are open scrub. Car shuttle required.. Cars: 13 km ($2). Leader: Mary H Most of the walk is along fire trail with a short steep section on an overgrown track. An early start so that we can have morning tea on Camel's Hump, and a lunch of bread rolls and home-made hot soup when we get back to the car park. Good views at the top. Leader: Peter W Short car positioning. From the locked gate at Thorn Drive, Banks, we go up the fire trail to Rob Roy trig, then south along the nature reserve mainly on fire trails to GR916655, and back to the road along farm tracks. Mainly open country with views. Climb: 700m, of which 440m is Rob Roy. Cars: 10km ($1). Maps: Williamsdale, Tuggeranong.

Leader: Lyn W A steady climb of 300m on fire trail from the old visitors centre site up to Gibraltar Rocks, where there are good views over Canberra. Then we follow the trail across to Devils Gap. We wind back down to the starting point. Climb: 550m. Cars: 60km ($7). Map: Tidbinbilla. Meet at K.

Sat 5 Sep ROB ROY NATURE RESERVE 8km Medium (8)
Leader: Annabel A This is a walk from Callister St, Theodore to Callaghan Hill and Rob Roy Nature Reserve. We return by another track that passes below Big Monks Hill to take us on to Wollemi Place, Banks. On track and mostly up hill for the first half of the walk. Wonderful views. Car shuffle required. Some of the walk is on private land. Climb: 500m. Cars: 26km ($3). Map: Tuggeranong. Meet at K.
Sun 6 Sep BOOTHS HILL AND BRANDY FLAT HUT 12km Medium (11)
Leader: Derek S We will follow the fire trail north from the Brandy Flat South car park for a while, then head east off track to reach the summit of Booths Hill. Some rough going, and quite a climb. After lunch we will drop down on the northern side of the hill, then swing west to meet the fire trail again near Brandy Flat Hut, following the fire trail back to our cars. Climb: 770m. Cars: 110km ($13).

Mon 7-Wed 9 Sep HODDLES CASTLE PACK WALK Medium-hard
Leader: Philip G From Hoddles Castle there are extensive views of the Budawangs. The walk starts at the Nerriga entrance to Morton National Park. On the first day we walk from the Alum Creek Track to Styles Plain where we camp for two nights. Most of the way to the campsite is off-track. Weather permitting we climb Hoddles Castle on the second day and on the third day we walk out, probably by a different route from that of the first day. Expect a few creek crossings, a total climb of about 750m, some rock scrambling to get to the top of Hoddles Castle and patches of thick scrub. Only suitable for experienced walkers. Contact leader by Friday 4 September for more details. This walk is also on the NPA(ACT) program. Cars: 240km ($29). Map: Endrick 1:25,000. Contact leader no later than Friday 4 September.

Sat 12 Sept NURSERY SWAMP TO RENDEZVOUS CREEK 12km Medium (8)
Leader: Robyn K A steady climb on Nursery Swamp track to the saddle, nearly level over the swamp and to the next saddle, then downhill to cross Rendezvous Creek. Walk parallel to the creek to a lunch spot beside refreshing cascades. Return via the same route. Climb: 400m. Cars: 100km ($12). Map: Rendezvous Creek. Meet at K.
Sat 12-Mon 14 Sep CORONET PEAK AND SPLIT ROCK PACK WALK Medium (11)
Leader: Mary H On Saturday we will walk from Orroral Tracking Station car park along the Alpine Walking Track to a camp site at Pond Creek Flats. (12km, 400m climb). Optional walk down to Cotter Hut. (8km undulating). On Sunday we climb Coronet Peak without packs (5km, of which 4 through scrub, with a 380m climb). Then we walk with packs to a camp site below Split Rock (2½km, 220m climb). On Monday we climb Split Rock without packs (2km through scrub with rock scrambles and 240m climb). Finally, it is a 9½km walk dropping down to the cars. The walk is all on track while we are walking with packs, but there will be scrubby climbs without packs to the peaks. Contact the leader by Wed 9 Sep to book and arrange meeting time and transport. Limit of 8. Maps: Rendezvous Creek and Corin Dam.

Leader: Peter B A walk closer to home, the leaders home anyway. Leave your car at the leaders house in Torrens and walk the Farrer Ridge for views of the city and Tuggeranong, then on to Mount Wanniassa and Isaacs Ridge. Return to Torrens for tea and scones. Climb: 350m. Map: Tuggeranong. Numbers limited to 15 so please contact the leader by 9 September.

Leader: Jillian B We will be car camping at Bonnie Vale, which is about 1km from Bundeena. We need to set up camp on Thursday afternoon and leave on Sunday. In order to procure camp sites in this popular and lovely spot we need to book very soon, so please let Jillian know as soon as possible.

Leader: Colin B We start from the Booroomba Rocks car park on the Australian Alps Walking Track towards Mount Tennent but turn north off track into a saddle and then up an unnamed peak NE of Booroomba Rocks. Sun 20 Sep NAAS CREEK, SHEEP STATION CREEK, GRASSY CREEK 21km Medium (10)
Leader: Mac K Starting from the car park on the Old Boboyan Road, we walk along Naas Creek, and turn southwest into Sheep Station Creek along the Grassy Creek Fire Trail. We follow this trail over the saddle and southeast along Grassy Creek. About 1km before the Boboyan Road, in the vicinity of Westermans Hut, we turn northeast along a side creek and follow the obvious line of creeks back to the car park. A walk mostly along valleys and trails, with huts and a little off track. Climb: 200m. Cars: 160km ($19). Maps: Yaouk, Shannons Flat. Meet at K.

Sat 26 Sep PUNCHBOWL CREEK AND BLYTHYURNE COTTAGE 10km Medium (8)
Leader: Trevor B The walk starts in the forest off the Corin Road and proceeds down an old trail alongside Punchbowl Creek to White Horse Flat and thence via open country to Blythyurne Cottage. This was the home of a remarkable woman Elizabeth McKeahnie, who lived there a century ago. Return the same way. Climb: 400m. Cars: 70km ($8). Map: Corin Dam. Meet at K.

Leader: Peter W From the Yaouk Road near Bradleys Creek Homestead we go to the saddle NW of the rock, then up to the rock, then across to the massif to the SE. We then go back to the saddle, and SW to the road. A good spot on a fine day, and a classic walk/scramble. Climb: 700m. Cars: 180km ($22). Map: Yaouk. Meet at K leaving at 8:30.***

Leader Bob C From Moonlight Hollow and Chalet Road junction we follow the NSW/ACT border to Bendoura Hill (climb 200m), then on to Snow Gum Hill (climb 50m) for lunch. Return via Chalet Road. We shall explore the Bendoura Hut and the Bendoura Arboretum. We commence walking off track on low-level vegetation for 3km and fire trail/tracks for the remaining 7km. Climb: 250m. Leader: Colleen F We are proposing 2-3 days of walking in the Kangaroo Valley area. Accommodation would be in a caravan park so that participants could choose either to camp or book cabins. There are a range of easy/medium walks in the area. Phone the leader by Fri 12 March 2010 if interested in participating.
WALKING IN PERISHER AGAIN
There will be a week at a ski lodge with two walks daily in Perisher in the early part of next year, possibly in March. Contact Judy L from late November for more details and confirmation.
