This involves 3 nights accommodation at Edrom Lodge (www.edromlodge.com.au) and needs a group size of 20 to be viable. Contact Clare M to reserve a place. Expect to pay a non-refundable deposit of $20.
Mon 20-Fri 24 Jun 2011 WALKING IN SYDNEY
Leader: John C Two colonial cottages at Camp Cove have been booked for 4 nights. These cottages are owned by NSW National Parks. The total cost for both cottages is $350 per night. Maximum of 14 people, though 12 is more comfortable. The accommodation is fully self-contained, and linen is supplied. John needs to know quickly who wants to come because a deposit is needed. These cottages are very popular and these are the first dates available.

Leaders: Richard & Jenny K The walk will vary for the group and temperature. We start from the car park, now situated past Forde land sales office. Optional coffee afterwards. Map: Hall or Canberra Nature Park. Meet at 7.30am at Mulligans Flat car park. *** (From Horse Park Drive follow signs up Francis Forde Boulevard, turn left at lights along Amy Ackman St. The car park is on the right.)

Leader: John C This is primarily a swimming walk. The walk is borderline between easy and medium because of walking on rocks. Walk down the Shoalhaven River from Warri Bridge near Braidwood. The river here flows gently through rocky country surrounded by attractive bush. There will be a little scrambling over and around rocks with plenty of opportunities for swimming. We will be walking in the riverbed part of the way. Cars: 120km ($14). Maps: Manar, Braidwood. Meet at Q.

Sat 15 Jan GININI CIRCUIT SOUTH 9km Medium (10)
Leader: Peter W This will be a circuit, mainly off track, through the open snowgum forest, rough underfoot. It will be at 1500 to 1600m, so should be 8 degrees C cooler than Canberra. We walk to the arboretum on the old fire trail, then up to Stockyard spur, and back via Little Ginini Mountain and Mt Ginini. Climb: 570m. Cars: 140km ($17). Map: Corin Dam. Meet at W, leaving at 8.00am. ***

Leader: Clare M Starting from the end of Frith Road we will spiral up to the top of Black Mountain via a lookout over the city and descend by a circuitous route that delivers us to coffee/breakfast in the Botanical Gardens at 10ish. Climb: well graded 300m. Map: Canberra Street Directory. Meet at end of Frith Road (behind the CSIRO) at 7.30am. ***

Leader: Barry M From Smiths Road car park south of Tharwa we follow the Murrumbidgee upstream to the gorge. We will rock hop up the gorge until we find a good place for a swim and lunch. If not too hot, a steep climb of about 100m out of the gorge to return to the cars. If too hot return the way we came. Cars: 40km ($5). Map: Williamsdale. Meet at K.
Sun 23 Jan BENDOURA HILL, SNOW GUM HILL 10km Easy (7)
Leader: Bob C From the junction between Moonlight Hollow and Chalet Road we follow the NSW/ACT border to Bendoura Hill (climb 200m), then on to Snow Gum Hill (climb 50m) for lunch. Return via Chalet Road. We shall explore the Bendoura Hut and the Bendoura Arboretum. Walking will be off track on low-level vegetation for 3km and fire trails for 7km. Climb: 250m. Cars: 100km ($12). Map: Tidbinbilla. Meet at W.

Fri 28 Jan MOUNT AINSLIE CHAMPAGNE SUNSET WALK 3km Easy (5)
Leader: Judy G Enjoy nibbles while sipping champagne or fruit juice and admiring the sunset over the Brindabellas. This traditional event is always popular. Bring your own glass or mug. Climb: 250m. Bring a torch for the walk back down at dusk. The walk will be cancelled if weather is wet. Meet at War Memorial car park at 6.30pm.***

Leaders: Pat and Eric P An exploration of a number of gorges between Tharwa and Angle Bend. They are located on the Murrumbidgee and the tributaries of Reedy, Guises and Dyballs Creeks. All are listed as sites of significance in the ACT. Opportunities for swimming if the weather is warm. Rock-hopping and possibly river crossings. Only a short climb back to the cars. A car shuffle will be involved. Cars: 60km ($7). Maps: Corin Dam, Williamsdale. Meet at K at 8.20am. ***
Sun 30 Jan MORNING WALK AND LUNCH 10km Easy (4)
Leader: Davinia W Vineyards, golf course, horse trails, Ginninderra Creek and pot luck lunch. These are the ingredients for a leisurely walk in Belconnen, concluding with a social lunch at the Wells abode in Scullin. Commencing at Belconnen Way we will walk along the Drake Brockman Drive horse trail which allows views of the vineyards (our version of Umbria) into the Holt Golf Course Estate. We will then connect with horse trails bordering the edge of Macgregor and then wind our way along Ginninderra Creek. From there we will navigate the green belts through Holt and Higgins before returning for lunch. Ring leader by Fri 28 January to discuss your contribution to the lunch. Meet at Scullin at 8.30am. ***
